Yes, it’s true! I am a hunter! Not all of the things I hunt are wildlife or wild plants. I often look at old house places for the flowers that blessed the lives of former owners. This iris was ‘borrowed’ from the yard of a falling down log cabin down the road. The flowers a few timbers and a cellar were all that were left the day one of the daughters, a nephew and I liberated the roots and replanted them in my yard.

Loggers have since run equipment over the area and what ever else was left is no longer there as far as I can tell. I have several of these.

I get a special joy from my found flowers, knowing I am sharing them with loving spirits of the previous ‘owners’. It can be truly said, that we do not own the earth, it is only given to us for a time.
