It officially begins tomorrow. Autumn – that is. However, little notes of arrival have been posted over the past couple of weeks here on Sunrise Ridge.

When Hubby and I walk out back, we have noticed that the survivors of the drought and heat have begun to wear colors of celebration for the rain and cooler days

sassafras with tints of orange,

Scrub maple hints at red and burgundy.

The sun rises over the ridge a little later every morning, and crawls over the western hill a bit earlier, as if it too is weary from the long hot dry summer.

It’s a good time of year, this winding down!  I am ready to do it too.
