“What is your favorite thing to make?” was the question and after I gave it some thought here is my answer.

Any kind of pie! It’s not so much the pie, but the making of the crust. I remember some 50+ years back standing on a kitchen chair while my great grandmother made her wonderful pies. A  big metal spoon ‘measured’ lard and a green tea cup was used for the flour. A little salt poured into the palm of her hand and then two knives cut the mixtuer into just the right texture of crumbs. Water added drop by drop until the dough came together in a ball, then rolled into a perfect circle on a floured dish towel. It does not matter what sort of pie. Today when I make pies, Gram’s spirit is there with me, sharing her love, her expertise and we all benefit from that.
